Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0499004A1] A process for manufacturing fiber reinforced ceramic material by chemical vapor infiltration by simultaneously providing a temperature gradient in the material and a combined pulsed pressure-temperature conditions in the CVD enclosure. A gas mixture comprising a nitrogen hydride and a gas selected from the group comprising silicon hydrides or silicon halides or a mixture thereof is injected in the enclosure for obtaining a silicon nitride deposition to fill up said material. The temperature gradient is provided by the use of a cold wall CVD enclosure along with an asymetrical heating of the material in said enclosure. <IMAGE>
