In a so-called washer-drier (1) with a self-contained process-air channel, to which a heating device (12), a blower (10) and a condenser portion (6) are connected, according to the invention there is connected between the condenser portion and the blower a secondary-air channel (24), the suction orifice of which is directed towards the upper inner space of the machine housing. The blow-off of the excess air occurring as a result of the secondary air is achieved by means of the washing-agent inflow channel (18), the upper end of which opens out at a location in the washing-agent feed device (15) which has free communication (20) with the atmosphere surrounding the machine. These measures reduce the temperature in the upper inner space of the machine, improve its efficiency and shorten the drying times. <IMAGE>

Bei einem sogenannten Wasch-Trockner (1) mit einem an sich geschlossenen Prozeßluftkanal, in den eine Heizeinrichtung (12), ein Gebläse (10) und ein Kondensatorabschnitt (6) geschaltet sind, ist gemäß der Erfindung zwischen dem Kondensatorabschnitt und dem Gebläse ein Nebenluftkanal (24) angeschlossen, dessen Saugöffnung zum oberen Innenraum des Maschinengehäuses hin gerichtet ist. Zum Abblasen des durch die Nebenluft entstehenden Luftüberschusses dient der Waschmittelzulaufkanal (18), dessen oberes Ende an einem Ort in der Waschmitteleinspüleinrichtung (15) mündet, der freie Verbindung (20) zur die Maschine umgebenden Atmosphäre hat. Diese Maßnahmen vermindern die Temperatur im oberen Innenraum der Maschine, verbessern ihren Wirkungsgrad und verkürzen die Trocknungszeiten. <IMAGE>
