[origin: EP0499244A2] The propellant charge of the propellant-charge module conists of at least two concentric rings (11, 12, 13), of which the outer ring (13) contains propellant-charge grains (21) which supply the maximum quantity of gas per unit time. The burn-up of the propellant charge is initiated by a central ignition (15), so that the rings burn up from the inside outwards. The outer ring (13) burning up last brings about an increased pressure build-up, so that the pressure reduction occurring as a result of the increase in volume of the combustion space is partially compensated. The pressure prevailing in the combustion space is thereby extended in time and the projectile is driven with improved efficiency. <IMAGE>
