Abstract (en)

The invention provides a method for cleaning sites contaminated with biodegradable organic and lipophilic wastes and compositions for enhancing the biodegradation of biodegradable organic and lipophilic wastes comprising a combination of organic-waste consuming microorganisms and liposomes wherein the liposomes supply essential nutrients for microbial growth while concomitantly increasing the polarity and wettability of the waste, thereby increasing their availability for enhanced microbial interaction therewith .
