[origin: EP0499966A2] The invention relates to a method for the continuous manufacture of envelopes, pouches, dispatch bags or the like from web-type material, in particular from paper or the like with or without lateral folds and with lateral bonding or with central bonding and in each case with a folded and bonded block bottom, wherein the web-type material is firstly weakened, cut to size, glued, folded, separated, prepared to form a tubular blank and is finally closed at the bottom. The core of the invention consists in the fact a) that the bottom formation stages take place during continuous longitudinal conveying, and b) that, when the bottom is formed, the material serving to form the lower bottom flap (42) is set back with a zigzag fold counter to the direction of transport, c) bottom side tabs (10, 11) being placed laterally outwards in the case of an envelope, a pouch or a dispatch bag with lateral folds (63, 64) and d) being folded inwards in the case of an envelope, a pouch or a dispatch bag without lateral folds. <IMAGE>
