[origin: EP0499991A2] A process for the chemical fixation of wool, in particular by means of sodium hydrogensulphite solution, in which the wool is fixed as knitwear and/or as a piece of carpet. The process can take place in such a way that the knitwear or the piece of carpet is first impregnated with the sodium hydrogensulphite solution at a temperature from 30 DEG to 40 DEG C and then treated with steam for three minutes at a temperature of at least 95 DEG C.
