[origin: EP0500200A1] In signalling lamps (F1), fed via in each case two isolating transformers (e.g. T1F1, T2F1), of a light signal, the monitoring circuits for the identification of the respective operating state of the light signal have previously been looped not via the signalling lamps themselves but only via components of the feed lines (SF11) running between the isolating transformers. With increasing distance between the switching box and the light signal there is an increasing risk of the conductors touching and shorts to earth. In order to be able to detect this at a central point, the invention provides conductive connections (LF1, LF2) between the secondary-side lamp circuits and the monitoring circuits. Faults on these lines can then be perceived in the same manner as corresponding faults on the feed lines between the isolating transformers. <IMAGE>
