Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9106990A1] An electrical appliance (1) for switching on reserve power is adapted to be installed in an electric mains (7a, 7b) with primary power supply and comprises a casing (2) having an input (5) and an output (6) which are electrically interconnected by a first line (4) and adapted to be connected to the mains; a switch (3) connected in the first line; and an appliance inlet (10) connected to the first line by a second line (13). This appliance is characterised by an operating cover (9) which is movably mounted in the casing (2) for shifting between a first position in which it covers the inlet (10) and allows the switch (3) to close the first line (4) between the input (5) and the output (6), and a second position in which it uncovers the inlet (10) and causes the switch (3) to open the first line (4) between the input (5) and the output (6), thus enabling current from a reserve power unit to flow, via a cable (12), or the like, and a flexible lead outlet (11), to the inlet (10) and from there to the output (6) via the second line (13), while the connection of the second line (13) to the input (5) is open.
