According to the invention, the adhesive strips (31, 34) are first applied to a transfer device (transfer roller 21) displaceable against the web (4) with a weaker adhesive force than on the material web (4), and then the transfer device (transfer roller 21) is moved against the web (4) and the adhesive strips (31, 34) are transferred thereto.
