[origin: EP0501844A1] This protection circuit breaker of the double cutout multipole isolator type includes, for each pole, a contact bridge (17) with middle plane (P) as well as a thermo-magnetic trip sub-assembly (30). This sub-assembly includes a base (72) of rectangular shape extending longitudinally in a direction perpendicular to the middle plane (P) and carrying a thermal trip with bimetallic strip (28) and an electromagnetic trip with striker lever (29) comprising a coil (91) wound around a tube (90) of the coil former and a magnetic circuit housed in the tube and consisting of a fixed core (92) and a plunger core (93) which are coaxially aligned. The bimetallic strip (55) and the magnetic circuit (92, 93) are parallel and the striker lever (41) is coupled up to the plunger core (93) and is mounted pivotably on the former of the coil while extending laterally to the bimetallic strip. <IMAGE>
