Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0501856A1] The invention relates to a braking system for an axle of a rail vehicle, such as a wagon, the platform chassis of which carries directly the means of suspension of the axle in question, said device comprising a rotor connected in terms of rotation to the axle and a mechanism immobilised in terms of rotation relative to the axle. It is characterised in that, instead of the mechanism simply being directly connected to the chassis by means of suspension pieces (20): - on the one hand, said mechanism is connected by means of its suspension pieces (20) to an intermediate support (28) which is itself connected to said chassis (1) by means of suspension links (29, 30) which, in the middle position, produce with the chassis (1) and the intermediate support (28) a parallelogram (31) deformable in a vertical plane parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rail vehicle, - on the other hand, so that the support relatively follows the longitudinal deflections of the axle in relation to the chassis, the intermediate support (28) is connected to a component (5), stationary in relation to the axle box, by means of a traction link (36) which, in the event of a mean load on the chassis, is substantially horizontal and is articulated on the intermediate support and on the stationary component (5). <IMAGE>
