[origin: EP0502365A1] The invention relates to a refuse container (1) for degradable waste, the interior of which comprises two vertically arranged volumes (5, 16), whereby it is intended that the liquid received with the degradable waste should collect in the lower volume (16), from where it can also be removed. On the one hand, this volume should be large enough to be definitely able to accommodate the liquid received, on the other hand emptying of the liquid section and of the refuse container itself should be easy and trouble-free, without backmixing of the waste with the liquid occurring. To this end, the lower volume (16) is separated from the rest of the container casing by means of a forked grid (14), which is normally horizontal, but which is pivoted about a horizontal axis in the container casing during emptying. Reliable separation of solid and liquid waste and complete emptying of waste from the refuse container are achieved in this way. <IMAGE>
