[origin: EP0502453A1] In a multi-storey car park having at least one parking shaft (B) and one lift shaft (L), a circular operation (a1, a2, 33) is maintained in which the pallets (P) holding the vehicles (C) are raised from an entrance of the parking shaft (B) to the individual parking spaces (B1-B7) and, when they are to be collected, are moved into the lift shaft (L) which serves exclusively to move the pallets (P) downwards and then to the exit. The pallets (P) then return immediately to the entrance without travelling backwards once more along a route they have just taken. <IMAGE>
