[origin: EP0503311A2] A method for processing mail makes use of a mail-processing device, in the standardised mail feeds of which the mail is introduced and in which a postage credit card or an authority card can be inserted into an accounting unit and, after the postage has been calculated by the accounting unit, a transport barrier of the mail feed is released. The mail is then deposited in secured storage containers.
