[origin: EP0503354A1] A base unit for a document shredding machine (1) is described, the frame (2) of which is formed by an approximately perpendicularly arranged rear section (4), an approximately horizontally right-angled upper section (5) as storage surface for the document shredding machine (1) and an approximately horizontally right-angled lower section (6), the frame (2) being smaller in width than the paper collection container which has at its rear open recesses (9) for the sections (4, 5 and 6) of the frame (2) such that the paper collection container (3) which is pushed under the document shredding machine (1) essentially covers the frame (2).
