[origin: EP0503457A2] In a drive for machine tools or the like, a flywheel 10 is provided, the torque of which is transmitted to an input shaft 12 of a planetary gearing 13 via a controllable clutch/brake combination 11. The housing of the planetary gearing is closed at the input side by a cover 14' from which a cylindrical bearing support projects axially and surrounds the input shaft 12 radially. A hub 19' situated on the flywheel 10 is rotatably mounted in the bearing support. In order to provide a more favourable design of drive and permit more effective cooling, it is proposed to fix a bearing housing 15' to the gearing cover 14', into the outer axial section 17' of which the hub 19' situated on the flywheel 10 projects and is there rotatably mounted 20 on the inner surface 18' of the bearing housing 15. The bearings 23 allowing the rotation of the input shaft 12 are only arranged in the interior of the hub 19'. The bearing housing 15' simultaneously surrounds the entire clutch/brake combination 11, the operating space 32 of which is thus in the interior 32 of the bearing housing 15'. <IMAGE>
