[origin: EP0504125A2] The main aim of the present patent is to produce a fire protection circuit breaker for AC and DC currents. It is based on detecting the very high-frequency specific pulsatile currents which have been revealed in the case of short-circuits or false contacts, this detection being carried out inductively or some other way. The device operates by processing these currents which come in the form of pulses or pulse trains, called point contact currents, after shaping or not, by means of digital techniques associated with quartz-monitored time bases. The said processing can include several levels, be it undertaken basically following the straightforward counting principle or on the contrary according to the frequency comparison principle, or even a combination of the two.
