Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0504659A2] A method is disclosed for controlling the speeds of successive vehicles (Z1, Z2) on a section of rail equipped with continuous automatic train running control (LZB). The specification of an imaginary stopping point (HP) of the front vehicle (Z1) as an additional destination makes it possible for two braking curves (1, 2) to be calculated for the respective following vehicle (Z2), one of these curves being based on the rapid braking deceleration of the following vehicle and having as destination the current location (P2) of the rear of the vehicle ahead, the other being based on the operational braking deceleration of the following vehicle and having as destination the imaginary stopping point (HP) of the rear of the vehicle ahead. The following vehicle utilises the respectively more restrictive braking curve as the travel curve. The calculation of the braking curve and the minimum selection can take place either on the following vehicle or in the control centre of the continuous automatic train running control. The method increases the utilisation rate of rail routes possible until now by approximately 30%. <IMAGE>
