In a process for the pretreatment of metallic materials for the direct electrodeposition coating with metal from nonaqueous solutions, in particular with aluminium from aprotic electrolyte media, the surface of the metallic material is first given a preliminary cleaning and the material is then subjected to the following treatment steps using oxygen-free reagents in an inert gas atmosphere: (a) activation with an aqueous solution of an inorganic or organic acid, (b) removal of the activation solution by rinsing with water, (c) drying with inert gas or in vacuo or rinsing with alcohol or a dehydrating agent with an organic base and rinsing with an aromatic hydrocarbon or drying with inert gas or in vacuo. t

Bei einem Verfahren zur Vorbehandlung von metallischen Werkstoffen für die direkte galvanische Beschichtung mit Metall aus nicht-wäßrigen Lösungen, insbesondere mit Aluminium aus aprotischen Elektrolytmedien, wird zunächst die Oberfläche des metallischen Werkstoffes vorgereinigt und dann wird der Werkstoff unter einer Inertgasatmosphäre folgenden Behandlungsschritten mit sauerstofffreien Agenzien unterworfen: (a) Aktivieren mit einer wäßrigen Lösung einer anorganischen oder organischen Säure, (b) Entfernen der Aktivierlösung durch Spülen mit Wasser, (c) Trocknen mit Inertgas bzw. im Vakuum oder Spülen mit Alkohol oder einem Entwässerungsmittel auf organischer Basis und Spülen mit einem aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoff oder Trocknen mit Inertgas bzw. im Vakuum.
