[origin: EP0505080A1] The present invention relates to an electrochemical cell having two terminals (10,42) located on the housing of the cell, at least one of the terminals being able to prevent the flow of electrical current when the cell is reversed, characterised in that, when the cell is reversed, flow of current is prevented by a non-conductive element (60) associated with the cell and which protrudes beyond the conductive contact area (18) of one of the terminals, such an arrangement being useful for mass produced cells to fit in non-specialised cells. <IMAGE>
