[origin: EP0505794A1] An electromagnetic switching apparatus is described having an electromagnetic drive which is arranged in a multi-part housing, having switching contacts which are accommodated in a switching space, and having deionising devices which are allocated to the switching contacts and have arc splitters (51) which form an extinguishing chamber (50), and having an essentially U-shaped commutation plate (7) which is accommodated in a dome-like housing upper part which can be closed by means of a cover (4). The arc splitters, which are assembled by means of insulating plates (52) to form a stack and are inserted into the housing chambers, are pressed and clamped-in in a sprung manner against the wall of the housing upper part by means of end limbs of the commutating plates which are bent in a double U-shape. <IMAGE>
