[origin: EP0505950A1] To minimise, without the use of an oiling system, frictional forces between the side faces of a blade and product to be cut and thus prevent parts of the product to be cut from sticking to the side faces of the blade, a blade (1) having a spiral-shaped cutting edge (3) extending over about 150-360 DEG is proposed. An outer-edge strip of the blade (1) forming the cutting edge (3) projects at an acute angle from the plane of the blade (1) with respect to the cutting surface of the product to be cut. Owing to the bevel of the blade (1) thus formed, it is ensured that only the cutting edge (3) comes into contact with the cutting surface of the product to be cut and all other regions of the blade are kept at a distance from the cutting surface. <IMAGE>
