Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0506000A2] An apparatus for chemical treatment of metal, in particular for pickling or etching raw metallic products and semifinished and finished products, in which the flow of the chemicals and rinsing water used is designed so as to result in a circulatory system without effluent water or waste, is characterised by a pretreatment station (1) in which coarse scale, rust and other oxide layers are removed from the metal surface, a metal treatment station (3) in which the metallic product to be treated is processed chemically, in particular etched or pickled, by means of iron(III) chloride solution and the desired processing finish is achieved, a regeneration plant (4) in which the iron chloride solution used in the metal treatment station is chemically or, in particular, electrochemically regenerated without residue, a rinsing station (6) in which the chemicals used to treat the product chemically are removed without residue from its surface, and a rinsing water concentrating system (7) in which the concentration of the chemicals rinsed off is increased to the desired specified value. <IMAGE>
