Abstract (en)

The invention applies in particular to the automotive industry. It consists of a method of firing an electric load such as a discharge lamp, which method is intended to supply it with sufficient energy under a high voltage and for a very short time interval, in a repetitive or non-repetitive fashion. The invention is characterised in that the method includes the steps of: a) accumulating the energy drawn by the electric load and supplied by the convertor in a storage device placed in series with the electric load, b) releasing the stored energy into the load for a time sufficient to guarantee an adequate firing, the circuit containing the convertor, the energy storage device and the energy-consuming load adapting itself to the firing condition. <IMAGE>
