[origin: EP0507764A2] An agitator (1) consists of a driveable agitator shaft (2) and an agitating mechanism (6) which has agitator arms (9) which are articulated to two support sleeves (7, 8) which are seated rotationally fixedly but displaceably relative to one another on the agitator shaft (2), and are radially adjustable by the relative displacement thereof. In order to provide an efficient agitator which is particularly versatile in use, the two support sleeves (7, 8) are mounted to be displaceable on the agitator shaft (2) and the support sleeves (7, 8) are each provided with their own setting drives (12, 14; 13, 15) which are adjustable independently of one another. <IMAGE>
