L'invention concerne un procédé de désaération d'une composition aqueuse et un dispositif de mise en oeuvre du procédé. Le procédé consiste à appliquer au mélange, avant refonte, une pression voisine de la tension de vapeur d'eau correspondant à la température dudit mélange. Le dispositif de mise en oeuvre du procédé comprend une enceinte de dépression située en amont du dispositif de refonte et dans laquelle on applique au mélange une pression voisine de la tension de vapeur d'eau correspondant à la température du mélange. Application à la désaération de compositions photographiques.
