[origin: EP0508078A2] In a rail brake for cable railways which are spring-mounted on wheels, the shoe brake is arranged at a constant distance from the surface of the track (1) and thus the braking force is kept constant by way of brake geometry. The cabin has an extension (10) which engages in the leading running gear (3) and permits a reliable transmission of force from the brake to the cabin without "inhibiting cabin movements" and thus relieves the main running gear (2). In addition, spring-mounted buffers (11, 11'), as a result of which the braking effect on the cabin occurs in a shock-absorbed fashion, are provided at the connecting point of the guiding running gear (3) with the extension 10 of the cabin. <IMAGE>
