[origin: EP0508251A1] A collapsible plastic IV container (1) is fitted with a sealable tube (4) which is provided with a female luer connector (5). A solution of a drug that is contained in a syringe can be diluted in the IV solution without the use of a needle, by direct coupling of the male luer connector (11) of the syringe to the female luer connector (5) on the container (1) with the IV solution. After the drug has been added, the tube (4) is sealed, producing a hermetically closed container (1) with the diluted, reconstituted drug solution. Use of this method and apparatus for the reconstitution or dilution of drugs increases the safety, by eliminating the use of needles and administration ports with rubber membranes and thereby reducing the chances of inadvertent exposure of hospital personnel to hazardous drugs. <IMAGE>
