A latch module for a vehicle door has a door latch mechanism (20), an exterior door handle assembly (10,11) and cylinder lock (12) preassembled in appropriate relationship on a support plate (15), the latch mechanism (20) and/or handle assembly (10) being mounted on the support plate (15) in a manner which will permit relative movement therebetween to accommodate tolerance variations when locating the latch mechanism (20), exterior door handle assembly (10,11) and lock cylinder (12) with respect to the door. <IMAGE>
