[origin: EP0509197A1] The invention relates to a book with file pockets, which is described in practice as a "clear book" and has a plurality of flat file pockets (14) of rectangular contour which have an insertion opening for documents, are joined together integrally in pairs at a common centre line (12') and, resting flatly against one another, are welded to one another and to a binding cover (10) at a binding welding seam (12) running along the common centre line (12'). In order to avoid tearing of the file pockets when handling the book in the region of the binding welding seam (12), which is preferably interrupted in the manner of a grid, both layers of film (14', 14'') of the individual file pockets (14) have cutouts (24) in the vicinity of at least one of the ends (26) of the binding welding seam, said cutouts being arranged laterally next to the binding welding seam (12), and being open at the edges towards the edge (20) of the adjacent pocket perpendicular to the binding welding seam (12).
