Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0509960A1] The described storage device comprises at least one storage appliance with a gripper and a number of roll cores and is used for the storage of material as rolls, especially for storage of printed products in rolls. The gripper has a central element (10) which is attached to a transport appliance and which supports a gripper spider (20). Clamping arrangements (30) for clamping rolls (W) at their periphery and core carrier arrangements (40) for taking hold of individual empty roll cores (WK), or ones which have been loosely placed on top of one another, are arranged on the gripper spider (20). Roll carrier arrangements (50) which support the cores of clamped rolls can be arranged on the central element (10). The core carrier arrangements (40) are movable or pivotable in such a way that they can be moved away from the region of rolls to permit handling of the latter. The movements of the gripper parts are driven by linear drives and monitored by sensors, so that the gripper can operate fully automatically. The roll cores (WK) are essentially hollow cylinders, containing holding means (60) inside them, by which they are taken hold of by the core carrier arrangements (40) and the roll carrier arrangements (50). <IMAGE>
