[origin: WO9110392A1] A vacuum cleaner has a vacuum chamber (3) in which a vacuum is produced by means of a fan (6), and a liquid container (4) arranged below the vacuum chamber. The vacuum chamber (3) is separated from the liquid container (4) by a dividing wall (18) which has a central opening (19) covered by a cover (21). A suction pipe (9) which opens into the bottom region of the liquid container (4) conveys the dust to the liquid container, where it is bound to the liquid. Turbulences created in the liquid are calmed by thin plates (11) which extend across only part of the cross-section of the liquid container (4) and which are mutually offset perpendicular to the suction pipe (9). This and the arrangement of the cover (21) prevent liquid particles from being entrained into the vacuum chamber (3).
