[origin: WO9208387A1] An improved applicator for soft materials includes a cartridge section (2) and a relatively rotatable body section (3), the soft material being contained within the cartridge section (2) and a plunger (12) being provided to advance the soft material. The improvement resides in providing a clutch assembly (30) within the applicator body (3) to prevent the inadvertent separation of the cartridge section (2) from the body section (3). In a preferred embodiment, this assembly comprises a clutch means (30) between the rotatable body section (3) and the plunger (12) whereby rotation of the body (3) is transmitted to the plunger (12) to advance and retract the plunger (12) and associated soft material, the clutch means (30) being designed so as to disengage before the plunger (12) is retracted to the point at which it would forcibly separate the cartridge (2) from the body (3).

Un applicateur amélioré pour matières molles comprend une cartouche (2) et un corps (3) pouvant tourner par rapport à ladite cartouche. La matière molle est contenue dans la cartouche (2) et un piston (12) fait avancer la matière molle. L'amélioration réside dans le fait que le corps de l'applicateur contient un ensemble d'accouplement (30) empêchant la séparation involontaire de la cartouche (2) du corps (3) de l'applicateur. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, cet ensemble comprend un dispositif d'accouplement (30) reliant le corps rotatif (3) et le piston (12) de façon que le mouvement de rotation du corps (3) soit transmis au piston (12) pour le faire avancer ou reculer avec la matière molle, ce dispositif d'accouplement (30) étant conçu de sorte qu'il cesse d'entraîner le piston avant que celui-ci n'atteigne un point auquel il forcerait la cartouche (2) à se séparer du corps (3) de l'applicateur.
