[origin: EP0510193A1] Tuberous root objects (2) are passed onto a transporter (3) with support elements (4), setting the objects in a stable position and passing them into the control zone, where a device (8) measures the current values of the sorting coefficient and passes corresponding signals to an automatic control system (7). The device (8) is connected to a unit (10) for determination of the number of support elements of the objects, while a unit (11) determines the displacement of the support elements under the action of the objects. The unit (10) records information of the places of address of the support elements on which the objects are projected orthogonally and passes a signal to the actuating mechanisms at the corresponding address areas, removing the objects at the places of address. The rotating support elements are returned to their starting positions by a contour follower (6). The device can be used with linear or horizontal conveyors.
