[origin: EP0510486A1] A composite stone or a composite plate (1) as covering for footpaths and the like is described, which has an upper plate-shaped part (2) made of a natural stone with low absorbency, in particular granite, and a lower reinforcing concrete part (3). The plate-shaped natural stone part has on its underside (4) facing the concrete at least one incision (5) which extends at an oblique angle to the underside and is filled by an adhesive mortar so that a particularly good interlocking results. The stone or plate is manufactured in such a manner that the natural stone plate is introduced into a mould and, after applying the adhesive mortar to the underside of the natural stone plate, the mould is filled with fresh concrete. <IMAGE>
