Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0510525A1] The conveying device (10) has supports (12) which are driven so as to circulate in the circulating direction (U) and are arranged behind one another. A first and a second processing section (20, 22) are provided along the upper run (18) parallel to one another and next to one another in a laterally offset manner. These processing sections (20, 22) can be connected in parallel and in series via the convertible belt conveyor (58). In series operation, a printed product (24) is deposited, at each feeding station (28), astride each support (12) or on the printed products (24) which have already been deposited thereon. In the region of the lower run (18'), the intermediate products (24'') formed in such a way are displaced transversely to the direction of circulation (U), in the longitudinal direction of the support (12), and fed to the second processing section (22), where the feeding stations (30) deposit further printed products (24) astride the intermediate products (24''). All the collected printed products (24) are then stitched using the stitcher (38) and the final products (24') are conveyed away. In parallel operation, the first and second processing sections (20, 22) operate simultaneously parallel to one another, the final products (24') being conveyed off at the end of each processing section (20, 22). <IMAGE>
