[origin: EP0511160A1] The clamping device (1) for clamping the thread in the event of a machine stoppage is equipped with a clamping jaw (5) which can be pressed against a clamping rib (8) by means of a spring device consisting of a compression spring (4). The spring force of this spring device can be set by means of a setting device which is assigned to each clamping device. The setting device consists of a slide (17) having a guide slot (19) which compresses the compression spring (4) to a greater or lesser extent. The slide can be operated by means of a setting lever (21). In this way, the clamping force of the clamping device can be matched individually to the particular thread qualities being processed. <IMAGE>
