[origin: WO9208949A1] In a process for the continuous contactless measurement of outlines, especially those moving axially, where internal contours of an outline can be measured provided that they are accessible to a measuring beam and permit reflection to a receiver, probes, by which a surface segment of an object in a given measuring range of the probe concerned is continuously scanned sequentially or by points in succession and with variable and presettable steps or resolution within the measuring range, using the triangulation principle and a laser measuring beam with the distance of each measuring point from the probe being determined in the form of local measurement data by a beam reflected from the surface of the object and received by a fixed receiver on the basis of geometrical relations, are arranged in a holder around the outline at a distance therefrom and in such a predetermined mutual angular position that a contour segment of the outline is associated with the measuring range of each probe as a surface segment, with overlapping measuring ranges of adjacent probes and with system calibration with a reference workpiece with the same shape and size as the outline to transmit the contour segments to a global system of co-ordinates and to assemble them into an overall image.
