[origin: WO9111110A1] A method of treating a livestock feedstuff comprises coating the feedstuff, especially in the form of pellets, with a composition comprising a fat or oil and a lignosulphonate. Additives such as pigments, vitamins, flavourings and pharmaceuticals may be included in the composition. A composition suitable for use in animal feed is also disclosed, consisting essentially of a fat or oil and a lignosulphonate. The composition is suitably prepared by blending the fat or oil with the lignosulphonate and then heat treating the blend. The tendency of the fat or oil to oxidise is thereby suppressed.

On décrit un procédé de traitement d'aliments pour bétail consistant à enrober l'aliment, surtout sous forme de granules, d'une composition renfermant une graisse ou une huile et un lignosulfonate. On peut également ajouter des additifs tels que des pigments, vitamines, assaisonnements et produits pharmaceutiques. Une composition apte à une utilisation dans les aliments pour animaux est également décrite, composée essentiellement de graisse ou d'huile et d'un lignosulfonate. La composition peut être préparée de manière appropriée en mélangeant la graisse ou l'huile avec le lignosulfonate et ensuite en chauffant le mélange. Par conséquent, la graisse ou l'huile n'a plus tendance à s'oxyder.
