Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0512373A2] In a device (1) for holding a tool (3) on the drivable spindle (2) of a machine tool, with a mounting shank (11) which can be clamped in position in the machine tool and an integrally formed intermediate piece (12), the tool (3) is fastened to the intermediate piece (12) in such a way as to be adjustable to a limited extent in the axial direction of the intermediate piece (12) via two or more leaf springs (21) of curved design and preferably distributed uniformly over the periphery. This configuration ensures that workpieces (4) can be machined in accordance with the contour present in each case without the machine spindle (2) having to be changed in its vertical position for this purpose. On the contrary, the machine spindle (2) can follow a theoretically predetermined contour, while the tool (3) automatically adapts itself to the actual workpiece contour to be machined and bears with virtually constant applied pressure against the workpiece (4) so that, although unevenness improves, no unnecessary stock removal takes place and damage need not be tolerated. <IMAGE>
