Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0512393A1] An apparatus is described for mixing components of a beverage, in particular of syrup (S) and water (W), which has holding spaces (42, 43) for the components, said holding spaces being provided with an inlet (8, 3) and an outlet (15). The outflow from a first holding space (42), which in particular is provided for water, takes place through a second holding space (43) which is in particular provided for syrup. In order to improve in a constructionally simple way the effectiveness of mixing in such an apparatus it is proposed to pass the inlet (3a, 3b) into the first holding space (42) through the second holding space (42) filled with one of the components and through a transition region (44) located between the first and the second holding space, the transition region (44) having a cross-sectional area which is smaller than the cross-sectional area of the first holding space (42). As a result, the component in the second holding space (43) is entrained by the inflowing further component into the first holding space (42). <IMAGE>
