In a method of producing a rotary anode of an X-ray tube having a focal track region composed of refractory metals, the focal track region is manufactured by powder-metallurgy methods or by CVD OR PVD methods. According to the invention, the focal track region is aftertreated, preferably using high-energy electrons or photons, at a depth of less than 1.5 mm by means of local superficial melting. This reduces, in particular, the residual porosity of the focal track region, which results in improved mechanical properties, higher X-ray yield and markedly improved service life of such rotary anodes.

Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Röntgendrehanode mit einem Brennbahnbereich aus hochschmelzenden Metallen. Der Brennbahnbereich ist mittels pulvermetallurgischer Verfahren oder mittels CVD- oder PVD-Verfahren gefertigt. Gemäß der Erfindung wird der Brennbahnbereich vorzugsweise unter Anwendung hochenergetischer Elektronen oder Photonen in einer Tiefe von kleiner 1,5 mm mittels lokaler, oberflächlicher Aufschmelzung nachbehandelt. Dadurch reduziert sich insbesondere die Restporosität im Brennbahnbereich. Das führt zu verbesserten mechanischen Eigenschaften, höherer Röntgenstrahlenausbeute und zu deutlich verbesserter Lebensdauer derartiger Drehanoden.
