Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0514701A1] The apparatus and the method serve for collecting lap pieces which are respectively separated from lap ribbons in a lap-roll changing operation. Each combing machine (1, 2, 3) contains suction nozzles (4-11) for picking up the lap pieces, said suction nozzles being connected to a collecting line (21) by way of a shut-off member (23, 23.2, 23.3). The collecting line (21) leads to a fan and to a drum-type separator (25). When a lap-roll changing operation is carried out in one of the machines (1, 2, 3), the shut-off member (23, 23.2, 23.3) assigned to the machine is opened and the fan and drum-type separator (25) are switched on. The separated lap pieces are sucked into the suction nozzles (4-11) and transported through the collecting line (21) into the drum-type separator (25). The fibre material of the lap pieces can then be extracted from the drum-type separator (25) and reused for making a new lap. <IMAGE>
