Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0515307A1] The device has a servopiston (12) which is connected to the exhaust valve (9) and is acted upon by a column of hydraulic fluid. The column is contained in a conduit (20) extending between the servopiston (12) and a stroke transmitter (61). A cam (23') of a camshaft (23) moves the stroke transmitter (61) in time with the engine and in doing this displaces the column towards the servopiston (12), the exhaust valve (9) thereby being actuated in the opening direction. Provided in the region of the column is a closable discharge passage (66) with a throttle (67', 69), via which a certain quantity of the hydraulic fluid is discharged for part of the time during which the stroke transmitter (61) is being moved by the cam (23'). It is thereby possible to vary the time at which the exhaust valve closes. <IMAGE>
