A column is indented around the outside by moving the said column (1) initially between two rollers (5, 5-5', 5') of in each case a pair of indenting rollers arranged one behind the other and is indented on two opposite sides of the column. Subsequently, the pairs of indenting rollers (5, 5-5', 5') are moved transversely with respect to the said first direction of movement of the column towards each other, the pairs of rollers clamping the column between them and indenting from the edges on the two other opposite sides of the column, whereupon the column is moved through between the two indenting rollers of each pair of indenting rollers (5, 5'-5,5') in a second direction of movement, and thus an indenting around the outside is produced. <IMAGE>

Ein Strangstück wird umlaufend gekerbt, indem das Strangstück (1) zunächst zwischen zwei Rollen (5,5-5',5') jeweils einem Paar von hintereinander angeordneten Kerbrollen bewegt und auf zwei gegenüberliegenden Strangseiten gekerbt wird. Anschließend werden die Kerbrollenpaare (5,5-5'5') quer zur genannten ersten Bewegungsrichtung des Strangstückes aufeinander zubewegt, wobei die Rollenpaare das Strangstück zwischen sich einspannen und auf den beiden anderen gegenüberliegenden Strangseiten von den Kanten her kerben, worauf das Strangstück zwischen den beiden Kerbrollen eines jeden Kerbrollenpaares (5,5'-5,5') in einer zweiten Bewegungsrichtung hindurch bewegt werden, und so eine umlaufende Kerbung entsteht. <IMAGE>
