[origin: EP0516501A1] The method according to the invention uses a designation and validation device (3) coupled to the flight management system of the aeroplane so as to obtain, on the screen (ND) of this system, in addition to the geographical representation of the flight plan selected by the pilot, a sensitive area associated with each point of the screen (ND), dynamic function ranges (7, 8, 9, 10) serving to compose menus, a luminous index (6) whose displacements on the screen (ND) are controlled by action of the pilot on the designation device, in such a way as to be able to bring the index (6) onto a sensitive area or range, activation of the function corresponding to this range or the selection of the said area being brought about by action of the pilot on the validation element. The invention makes it possible to simplify the pilot's task, as he then only has to monitor a single display screen. <IMAGE>
