[origin: EP0516533A1] Process for manufacturing a socket-contact from a rough mould consisting of a tube of material with good conductive properties and good elasticity comprising a narrowed portion provided with longitudinal parallel slots and terminated by a ring of material having good electrical conductivity and good resistance to the effects of electric arcing, characterised in that it comprises the following operations: - the said rough mould (1) is placed around a cylindrical core (10) having a diameter substantially equal to the diameter of the rough mould and a length equal to that of the rough mould, the top of the core abutting against the ring, - a block (5) made of an elastomer and of annular cross-section having an adjoining internal diameter slightly greater than the external diameter of the rough mould and a height substantially equal to that of the slots is arranged around the rough mould in line with the slots, - a pressure is exerted on the end surfaces of the said block, tending to reduce the internal diameter of the said block until the desired slot width is obtained. <IMAGE>
