Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0516999A1] In order to obtain a standing surface, it is known to bevel off the side transoms of the staircase, this usually being carried out with tools which are not available on site. On the one hand, an exact dimensional specification is consequently necessary, on the other hand this method of construction produces waste material, which unnecessarily makes the product more expensive. The object of the invention is therefore to design a side transom in such a way that it can be produced and assembled by very simple means at reasonable cost. For this purpose, the invention provides that on at least one end face of the side transom (1) there is fitted an end piece (2), the base surface of which in line with the side transom (1) being approximately triangularly shaped. In the position for use of the side transom (1), one side of the end piece (2) in this case forms a horizontally or vertically aligned bearing surface. Also provided, in the inner chambers of the side transom (1), are screw channels (5), into which screws (6) passing through the end piece (2) are screwed. A bevelling off of the end faces of the side transom is no longer necessary, so that simple cutting to the appropriate overall length suffices. This results in considerable cost advantages both with regard to production and with regard to assembly. <IMAGE>
