[origin: WO9213158A2] A constraint device (1), adapted for interposition between parts of works, e.g. between two girder members (12, 16) of a viaduct to hold them securely together on the occurrence of such sharp movements as may be brought about by earthquakes, and allow of slow relative movements, as due to thermal expansion, which device has shown to be uncommonly reliable, comprises a cylinder-piston unit (2) having a cylinder (3) wherein a piston (7) defines two oppositely located working chambers (24, 25), a conduit (26) between the chambers (24, 25) provided with a throttle (27), and a gas accumulator (34) formed in the piston (7) and being communicated to one chamber (25) through a passageway (32) provided with a throttle (33).

Dispositif de contrainte (1) pouvant s'intercaler entre les parties de certains ouvrages, par exemple entre deux poutres (12, 16) d'un viaduc, pour les rendre solidaires l'une de l'autre lors des mouvements violents provoqués, par exemple, par les tremblements de terre, et en permettre des mouvements relatifs lents provoqués par exemple par la dilatation thermique, ledit dispositif s'étant avéré exceptionnellement fiable. Il comporte une unité à cylindre et à piston (2) posséant un cylindre (3) dans lequel un piston (7) délimite deux compartiments de travail opposés (24, 25), un conduit (26) reliant les deux compartiments (24, 25) et doté d'un élément d'étranglement (27), ainsi qu'un accumulateur de gaz (34) formé dans le piston (7) et mis en communication avec l'un des compartiments (25) par l'intermédiaire d'un passage (32) muni d'un élément d'étranglement (33).
