Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0519324A1] The invention relates to an apparatus for the preparation of very finely divided pattern sand particles for the production of casting moulds in the metal casting industry comprising a feed device by means of which foundry sand containing lumps can be presented to a grinder in a grinding device. In order to create an apparatus of this kind which makes it possible to produce finely divided pattern sand particles from foundry sand produced in the usual way containing lumps, it is proposed that the feed device (26) present the foundry sand containing lumps (30) to the grinder (36) as a sand bed (32), that the grinder have a multiplicity of grinding elements (40) arranged on a support (38), that the grinding elements (40) be movable on a path of revolution by moving the supports and in the process remove lump-free pattern sand particles from the sand bed (32) and deliver them in a stream (52) of very finely divided pattern sand particles and that, during the removal of the pattern sand particles from the sand bed (32), the grinding elements (40) be arranged with such interspaces (Z) on the support (38) and be movable at such a speed on the path of revolution that the interspaces (Z) remain free of lumps. <IMAGE>
